CUE (Carbon Usage Effectiveness)

CUE

A metric for the carbon emitted per unit of IT energy a data center consumes.

CUE, or Carbon Usage Effectiveness, measures the total carbon emissions associated with a data center's energy use, divided by the energy delivered to IT equipment. It expresses how carbon-intensive a facility's operations are.

Where PUE captures energy efficiency, CUE captures the carbon footprint of that energy. A site can have a good PUE but a poor CUE if it draws from carbon-heavy power, which is why operators increasingly track both.

In ProDCIM

ProDCIM reports on energy and efficiency metrics such as PUE so teams can see consumption and act to reduce it, the foundation for tracking carbon outcomes.
